Promoting Financial Counselling Services to Regional Youth
In April 2009, members of the FCRC’s Western Rural Region Network advised the FCRC they were concerned that low numbers of young clients were accessing Financial Counselling services despite an apparent need being present.
Utilising this feedback, and with funding from The Consumer Credit Fund (Consumer Affairs Victoria), the FCRC has designed two postcards to raise awareness of Financial Counselling services amongst consumers under 25 years of age residing in regional and rural Victoria.
The postcards display easy to read information outlining how and when a Financial Counsellor may be of assistance, and which local agencies provide Financial Counselling services. The postcards (displayed below) have been specifically designed to target regional youth experiencing debt issues.
The FCRC would like to thank all Financial Counsellors who provided valuable information and insight into their casework during the consultation phase of the project. A pack of each version of the postcard will be sent to all regional and rural Financial Counselling agencies shortly. The postcards will also be distributed to highschools across regional Victoria.
Due to an overwhelming response to this project, the complimentary postcards are no longer available for order. However if your organisation is interested in purchasing the postcards or having a similar postcard developed for your region, please contact Special Projects Officer, Anushka Dantanarayana at anushkad@fcrc.org.au or on 03 9663 2000.
