Financial Counselling Bushfire Recovery
The FCRC actively supports Financial Counsellors by promoting the needs of those experiencing financial hardship. The FCRC is playing a vital role in coordinating the bushfire recovery program.
Debt problems, bankruptcy, financial difficulties, fines and consumer disputes are among the many problems that a financial counsellor may be able to help with whether it is due to the recent bushfires or other reasons.
The Department of Justice, through the Office of Gaming and Racing has provided dedicated resources to the financial counselling sector to support the recovery of people affected by bushfires. The FCRC’s Bushfire Response Plan coordinates financial counselling services to those affected by the February 2009 bushfires.
Promoting awareness of Financial Counselling is an important part of assisting those that have lost so much. With the many services available to support individuals and families, Financial Counselling is a key component in empowering those to make good decisions about their financial future when moving forward and starting the rebuilding process.
