Chair's report - Christmas 2016

By: Julie Barrow

2016 has witnessed many changes at FCRC for both our board and the staff at our organisation. We thank Peter for his leadership in which he continues to implement the vision of the organisation and attract quality, experienced staff to FCRC. I would also like to mention the new website that went live this month. I know this has been a time-consuming process and I would like to acknowledge the dedication by both Danielle Archer and James Degenhardt in creating this amazing tool for our members, consumers and stakeholders. It looks fantastic! If you haven’t had a chance to check this out please do. The website will continue to grow with resources and enable us to communicate with our members. The calendar will also be an invaluable tool!

As a preview to 2017 we will see:

  • Transition to the National Standards
  • Funding announcements for State and Federal funding
  • Diploma of Financial Counselling continue in a new and accessible format
  • Continued support of working groups, networks and our members through FCRC
  • Conference in October 2017 at the Mantra Lorne
  • National FCA Conference in Queensland – May 2017
  • Advocating for change for our clients
  • Monitoring the implementation of the Strategic Plan

On a National note, I recently attended the first meeting of the FCA Representative Council. It was great to meet inspiring leaders from across Australia and to learn more about the challenges across the States and Territories. I am excited by the shared visions of the Council for our future nationally as a profession.

On behalf of the Board I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!
